Hello Peaceful Millionaires, today I am answering a frequently asked question inside the Million Dollar CEO Program which is: How do I hire the right Co-Coach and introduce them to my clients without anyone getting upset?
I have introduced a number of co-coaches into my programs successfully and helped clients do the same.
In this episode we are going to go over:
And more
So, let’s start with some mindset shifts you need to make before you hire a Co-Coach.
We need to clearly define what makes a high quality co-coach for your programs. Because a lot of y’all are thinking about it all wrong.
All of this does not make a high quality co-coach.
What I’m about to share with you will not only make hiring a co-coach ten times easier and faster for you, but will also help you actually attract and retain higher quality talent. What I’m about to share with you will help you hire a Co-Coach that coaches BETTER than you and that your clients absolutely adore and even PREFER over you.
I have so many examples of this. My clients and I joke all the time that we’ve become “chopped liver” in her programs because our clients love our coaches so much.
It starts with this simple definition.
Here’s the definition of a high quality co-coach:
A high quality Co-Coach is a person that can coach effectively on your program’s concepts and philosophies.
Let me say that again:
A high quality Co-Coach is a person that can coach effectively on your program’s concepts and philosophies.
So, what do you need in place before hiring a Co-Coach?
You really need 2 things:
Clear core concepts means you have easy to name, easy to understand frameworks that get your clients results.
An example of this in my program is The Offer Story framework, The Write Emails Fast Method, and the Million Dollar Energy tool.
A high quality co-coach is a person that can coach effectively on your program’s concepts and philosophies so that means you need some.
That means your curriculum is going to be their #1 training.
Now, I have a lot of clients, especially my Million Dollar Earners, whose growth is outpacing their curriculum. Meaning, they just did a full curriculum revamp but they enrolled 100 clients that are asking 100 unique questions not covered in the curriculum. So what do they do? Do they revamp it before they hire a co-coach?
If this is you, all you need to do is create a core concepts and trends document with your core concepts and some of the issues that clients come to you with and how you answer them. You’ll only do this if you’re seeing trends. But this can help provide supplemental support to your co-coach and also you can do this anyway.
I started doing this when I noticed trends around my core concepts and I wanted a consistent answer and approach myself and my co-coaches could provide. For example, people would constantly re-submit their offer stories before they wrote any emails, so I added a note on my co-coach training document, “hey when people do this, say this”
Either way, your curriculum needs to be your #1 training.
Now let’s say you’re way overdue for a curriculum revamp. How do you hire a co-coach and train them when your curriculum needs to be revamped but at the same time you need to have time to actually do that.
Just create the core concepts and trends document I shared above. That way you can get the support you need and time on your calendar to redo your curriculum.
So we’ve talked about the definition of a high quality coach and what you need in place before hiring one.
Your core concepts + trends document and your delivery SOP can take as fast as an hour.
Now, let’s talk about how do you attract a high quality co-coach?
Process over people helps you:
I truly believe that every team issue people have in this industry is because they don’t know this concept.
A lot of this is related to the episode I posted last week where I talked about being more attached to process over people. The episode is called how to reduce team mistakes. Process over people means you have the systems and processes set up that allows anyone to run your business or program. You are not ever worried about what the people on your team are doing or not doing, whether they stay or go, because you feel confident that your company can always keep moving regardless of who is moving it.
If you are focused on process over people, then you won’t care if someone is an entrepreneur who desires to grow their business or not. You won’t be only looking for those who aren’t entrepreneurs or people with zero desire to scale.
So many of my clients will delay hiring because they want someone that is willing to be 100% dedicated to their business. All of my co-coaches have been incredible and I have never expected them to have no desire to grow their business.
This hiring practice is rooted in the idea that if they have a business and goals then they don’t have time or enough focus on their work with you. But if you’re thinking in process over people, you’d make sure your systems make it exceptionally easy to work with you. It’s so easy to work inside my programs. I keep it super simple for my co-coaches and so even if they are running their own business and are busy with that, my program is not negatively impacted by that.
Because of this, I get support way faster. Not just because I hire without all the pressure, but also because I’ve focused so much on my process, that whoever comes in my business can instantly support me.
If you’re focusing on process over people, you won’t be worried about finding someone to coach just like you, you’ll focus on making sure they can coach on your PROCESS.
If you’re focusing on process over people, you won’t make a coach a business partner that shares your program sales in order to incentivize performance, you’ll just focus on finding a high quality coach that can coach on your process.
If you’re focusing on process over people, you won’t be worried about finding someone that will stay forever, because you have systems that can help anyone run your program.
Thinking in process over people is how you attract and retain high quality coaches. You look for people who can do the job and you let them do the job.
Okay so, how do you introduce a new Co-Coach to your clients without getting complaints about it
Inside Million Dollar CEO, we have a 2 week hiring system that will help you find your dream co-coach that blends seamlessly with your program. We walk you through profitable budgeting for your hire so you attract quality talent without having to pay them a 6 figure salary or share sales with them, setting up your application, creating a test project that is customized to your unique program. It’s so important that you don’t use an application and test project that isn’t specific to your values and goals for the program. Your application and test project will dictate the ROI you make from your hire. So we make sure to walk you through that process. And then we teach you where to put your application to get great applicants. All of this happens in just two weeks so you can get support ASAP.
We also coach you on any anxiety that comes up around having someone work with your clients and most importantly, we will make sure you don’t just maintain your client results but actually double, triple, and quadruple them.
Before I hired a Co-Coach my calls required applications in order to review email copy. Clients had to wait an entire week AND had to come to a live call to get their copy reviewed. I had about $20,000 in submitted email sales. Now, my clients get on demand copy reviews and we are about to hit $1.5M in submitted emails sales.
Another client had the same issue, she was taking a full week to get any reviews done for her program and now after hiring a co-coach, she’s implementing a SAME DAY review experience for her community to get them higher results.
